LEAP 4

American Families

In Leap 3, we looked at 2 of the 3 sites on the Nebraska Web Ring: Cyberbabe and the Nickelson Family. That Leap could have gone in a different direction, and I felt it appropriate that we complete that ring, so I began with the "Ringmistress":

Faith in Him. This is from Mary, a 38-year old married with 2 children Air Force veteran who lives in Nebraska (Duh!). I think we have met her before as "Cyberbabe". This is a different website including pages on Panic Attacks and a Housewives' Prayer which should be required reading. She is on more webrings than I can count (9 pages of miscellaneous ones, several pages of Christian and Heartland Rings). Her pages are beautifully and appropriately designed. I admired them so much that I went to her source for the graphic set for this page (credit below). The first one I came to was the Domestic Goddess Ring, with 53 members. I was meant to check out:

, webbed by Suzanne in New Jersey. She and her husband, Michael, have a little one named Noah, and the original purpose of her page was to show him to family and friends far away, but she has developed into the real Webmistress. But we also get pictures from their wedding album, and some beautiful inspirational poetry about parenting. Suzanne stays at home, so we can tell she's serious about what she says. Noah has his own "Playroom" in the site, and Suzanne has put together a super-fine links page to Graphics Sites, and some poetry with no less than 7 webrings. The first on her page of Rings was Mommies on the Web, which has 141 sites. I was randomly introduced to:

Lori, another SAHM (Stay At Home Mom), only Lori lives in Washington State, with her husband Ken and 2-year-old Alex, their pride and joy after 7 years of marriage. Lori shares the story of her own fertility problems, which she hopes will give some hope to others facing this, also there is a page in memorium to her mother, who died in February 1998. There is also an impressive collection of "Welcome" gifts, mostly from other members of Mommies on the Web. Favorite links include the Seattle Mariners, Parent Soup, Sesame Street, Blues Clue and one for Veggie Tales (Christian-value stories for children). The first of her Webrings is the Wild Heart Webring. Of the 82 sites, I was sent to:

Lisa's Homepage. Lisa is a working wife and mother of 2 little ones (ages 1 and 2) who lives in Massachusetts. Her site includes links to Operation Just Cause and other Viet Nam veteran sites (her father is a vet), EMT sources, and classical Midis. These pages have a greeting-card quality with some floral graphics. Her first Web Ring is the Web Mistress Ring, with 345 sites. I was sent to:

Sorry, but... A dead end. White lettering on a black background that says: "This site no longer exists. My apologies for any problems I have caused to Dagian Design Concepts."

This ends the Leap. I'm kind of sorry. I thought this one held such promise.
