You probably remember the TV show, Quantum Leap. It was the story of a scientist who "leaped" between time and place in a random manner. He was supposed to stay within his own lifetime (1953 until the present), but the writers found ways around that. I find that I can do that right here on the Internet!

HOWEVER:

As close to TIME travel as I get is whenever the home page builder last updated. But within mere seconds I can cross oceans, continents, the street...

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:

I find a random homepage and explore it. Then I comment on it, but I'm nice unless they're not. According to the October 1998 issue of YAHOO Magazine, there were 4,789,049 home pages on the Web. Working with the theory that there are only six degrees of separation between everyone in the world, maybe we can find a way to all link together somehow. This theory, of course, does not really quite work. Oh, well.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MY LEAPS AND QUANTUM LEAP

• I will not take over anybody's body.
• I am not here to help anyone with their personal problems.
• I am never in physical danger.

PREFERRED METHODS OF LEAPING

Web Rings

I always hit the "Random" link to Web Rings. I have a preference for leaping out of a different Ring than the one I came in on. The greatest danger in doing this type of leap is getting stuck in Gaming Areas and/or the TITANIC. The ship sunk. Get over it.

Guest Books

I go by the last person who had signed the guest book before I got there, at least the last one with a web page. Sometimes this is a very cold link; this more than any other method will take me into a completely different topic area.

Links to Friends

This is my least favorite way to leap; sometimes I get stuck in one small circle of friends and this is a small world unto itself.

And, now having done a number of Leaps, let me warn you that some of these sites may have been extensively redone since my initial visit. I don't always have the time to go back and re-review them.
