I surfed onto these particular people because I was meant to...
live4theday's page. Matt's Internet Madness promises to be back soon with stuff about himself, his friends and his favorite bands! His last update is listed as April 4, 1997. From what I can tell, Matt lives somewhere around Reading, Pennsylvania. The most recent (from 10 months ago) link from his guestbook takes me to:
![]() | Daysleeper's Web. Daysleeper, on the other hand, is up and running. Has quite a web going. There is a link to an older page in Tripod, when Daysleeper seemed to first manifest himself as something of a mystic before branching out; has links to VanilSwirl (girlfriend? wife?). Daysleeper lives in Indianapolis, but is originally from Detroit. Uses a lot of chat, has HTML help, a list of 128 Midis (mostly metal), loads of Clip Art and more links to the same. In fact, I got the background for this page from his site as well as the graphics for the wizard and gramophone. He can also help you find some $$$ for college. The last guest book entry took me to: |
The Sound Page, run by Fabian Story from Tennessee. A place full of sound WAVs and MIDIs, mostly of more recent rock tunes. Helped myself to "Candle in the Wind" and Elmo getting his head blown off. Fabian has a really neat Chain-link background and we even get a picture of him! Page of good media and commercial links, like Ticketmaster, Comedy Central and Dr. Pepper. From here I signed up for my hotmail account. (Thanks, Fabian!) The most recent signee of the guestbook was over a month before, and while that link did not work, nor did anything else in the book besides Daysleeper, I linked to: | ![]() |
Crangirl's Domain. Crangirl is Kim, from Fabian's own links. Kim is a music fan and has links to the Cranberries, who is her favorite group. She tells about some of her recent concertgoing experiences and that she is an 18-year old freshman at MTSU. She is also on ICQ; her most recent update was only 2 weeks ago. The most recent link in her guestbook was to:
KIBBLELAND. This is a new webpage created by Beth Christianson. She refers to her site as " a relatively new and probably pointless little site that has a quirky way of growing on you if you stare at it long enough", which is simple and accurate. She has links to her friends (one of whom is a Graphic Artist), her class schedule, a tutorial from which she learned HTML and 2 "kitty graphics" sites. I was worried at first that this site might take me into KITTY HELL, but fortunately, it didn't. Beth is a student at U of TN at Knoxville. Among her courses is Classical Latin, so she is to be admired and encouraged in her endeavors! The most recent entry in her guestbook took me to:
Rita Loves Rutabegas. There is no Rita here; the Webmistress is Tonya, a sophomore at University of Tennessee, who tries to see the humor in everything. She is originally from Central Florida (Orlando?) and includes a separate page of pictures (including one of "Beth" from Kibbleland?). She pays tribute to her Mom, who is currently undergoing chemo (prayers are in order) and her section of "Brain Vomit" is actually a journal in which she chronicles her worries and her first days at a new job at Best Buys. This website is simple, but quite complete. Tonya is a brave young lady for showing herself like this. She deserves encouragement. GO TONYA!! Her guestbook had just been signed by:
Welcome to the Monkey House Actually there aren't any monkeys here, only Steven John Eggart, Jr. He lives in West Hempstead, Long Island, and is a junior in High School. He goes by the name of Jon ("dropped his first name and an 'h'"). He has been on-line since 1996 and has a journal dating back to 1997 (Spring), and only links to some friends. The only non-friends link is to his Page Server, which seems to have only 4 other people connected to it (including Tonya, above). Apparently, they have met. Three days before I surfed in, Jon's Guest Book had been signed by:
The Outhouse, mastered by Nicholas Slodki. Like Jon and Tonya, Nicholas writes in a journal that he posts. The most recent entry was less than 24 hours before I surfed in. He is currently in Lexington, Kentucky and has been unlucky in love. His second entry was done only about 3 hours before, and is a tribute to his mother, who did what she could to help some teenagers through some grief after one of their friends was killed. When first encountering Nicholas' page, they are given the choice of asking for the door to be opened (enters his journal area) or "no, too shitty fer me", which goes into a page about Creed (rock group). Nicholas follows the "Life is shitty" theme of many on-line journals. He does include a picture of himself.
One of the adventures around Random Leaping is that I might not have been able to continue this leap if I had gotten here just a little earlier!
Just before I got here, his page was signed by:
Alicia. Alicia lives in Washington State, where she is a senior at Issaquah High School, and looking forward to June 12, when she graduates and goes to the University of Washington. She seems interested in everything and very into sports. Lists favorite TV shows: X-Files, Xena and Friends at the top of the list. Links to her own friends' pages and a Bob Marley page. Nobody has signed her guest book since June 28, when she got a visit from:
TomMC at Tom's Diner, "where the food and culture mix together as one", which has a really cool linking banner. At first, Tom's site seemed to be entirely links to friends (albeit many), a guest book, ICQ information and three Web Rings: Cookie Clan, College Club Link U, and Amiras Teenage Haven as well as his ICQ pager. From Alicia's guestbook, we know that Thomas lives in New Orleans, Louisiana. A picture at the top of the page, however, holds the key to links all about Tom. His name is Thomas Nguyen, a 21-year-old Vietnamese student at the University of Louisiana. Thomas is one of 11 children (the number 11 figures heavily in his life, but he is number 10 on this surf). A touch on the Random Link to the Cookie Clan (there are 11 members) took me to a place unknown...
